Thank You to Our Supporters!

Thanks so much to supporters of Open Arms who attended our Seventh Annual Fundraiser, Open Arms & Open Doors. Held at the Pepco Edison Place Gallery in downtown Washington, the event yielded a record $26,000 for Open Arms. We are so grateful to all of our supporters, corporate and individual, big and small. Every dollar you contribute is put to use helping our tenants, and this year, ten thousand of your dollars counted for two, thanks to a matching grant from the Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation. The match continues through the end of the year so contributions you make this fall will still be doubled! We’d also like to thank our keynote speaker, Rosanne Haggerty, whose words were inspiring. Ending homelessness, she said, is not harder than ending small pox – and we did that! Other speakers included Polly Donaldson, Director of the DC Department of Housing and Community Development, and At-Large DC Councilmember Elissa Silverman, and we thank them for attending and speaking to our supporters.

Grant from The William S. Abell Foundation

Great news from The William S. Abell Foundation – Open Arms has received a grant of $20,000 from the foundation, and we are so grateful. The William S. Abell Foundation supports qualified, tax-exempt organizations that assist the hungry, the homeless, abused women and children, at-risk pregnant women and persons with intellectual disabilities.
